Charlotte Tilbury’s journey from a passionate makeup artist to a global beauty icon began at the Glauca Rossi School of Makeup. Early in her career, she gained invaluable experience assisting renowned makeup artist Mary Greenwell, working with top fashion brands and supermodels. These experiences laid the foundation for her deep understanding of beauty, which she channelled into her brand.

Launched at Selfridges in London in 2013, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty debuted with 200 products. The brand’s success was quickly amplified by Tilbury’s established reputation, strong social media presence, and ability to connect personally with beauty enthusiasts. By 2014, the brand expanded into the U.S. market and launched an e-commerce platform, gaining international acclaim and over 700 awards since its launch.

A significant milestone occurred in 2020 when Puig acquired a majority stake in Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, further accelerating its global expansion. By 2024, the brand will have a physical presence in 21 global markets, is available in 41 countries via charlottetilbury.com, and have over 2000 points of distribution worldwide, including department stores and travel retail. There are 27 standalone Charlotte Tilbury stores across the UK, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia Pacific.

Latest Charlotte Tilbury’s  Pop-Up Events

Brand’s pop-ups highlight her brand’s focus on innovation and customer engagement. These events blend product launches with sensory exploration to create impactful interactions.

One of the latest pop-up, held from May 10 to 19, 2024, at Protein Studios in Shoreditch, London, marked Tilbury’s debut into the fragrance market. The “Future of Fragrance” experience immersed visitors in a multi-sensory journey through six emotional realms: Love, Happiness, Seduction, Energy, Serenity, and Empowerment. 

Developed in collaboration with master perfumers at IFF and supported by neuroscience, this pop-up utilised data from over five billion data points to craft fragrances that evoke specific emotions. IFF’s proprietary algorithm, the ‘IFF ScentCube’ played a crucial role in analysing how different fragrance notes impact emotions. Visitors stepped through a “magical portal” into six distinct worlds, each representing a different emotion, and received personalised fragrance recommendations and free samples.

Before this, Tilbury captivated audiences with a Hollywood Glamour-themed event at Selfridges in London. This pop-up, inspired by Hollywood’s golden age, featured rich burgundy and pink tones, evoking the grandeur of classic film star glamour. Designed to transport visitors into a world of stardom, it combined lavish design elements with an exclusive retail experience, making it a unique fusion of beauty and entertainment.

The Unreal Summer Glow pop-up in New York City on June 23, 2024, celebrated the launch of the Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation Stick. Held at Flatiron Plaza, the event provided exclusive access to the new product, along with free samples and special offers. Attendees enjoyed photo opportunities and received additional Charlotte Tilbury products, with the first 300 receiving a full-sized Charlotte Tilbury x Disney100 Beauty Light Wand and 50 winners getting prizes such as the Invisible Flawless UV Primer or Beautiful Skin Island Glow Drops.

Sustainability Efforts 

Navigating the landscape of cruelty-free, vegan, and clean beauty can be complex. Charlotte Tilbury aims to simplify this with transparency about its products and practices. The brand is cruelty-free, with a strict no-animal-testing policy for both finished products and ingredients, validated by Leaping Bunny certification, and offers a wide range of vegan products.

Charlotte Tilbury Beauty has launched a sustainability initiative called “Recycle the Magic,” in partnership with HANDLE, a circular economy company. This program encourages customers to return empty Magic Skin Trilogy jars for recycling in exchange for a discount on a refillable glass moisturizer. HANDLE repurposes used beauty packaging into sustainable accessories made from 100% recycled plastic, contributing to waste reduction. The brand also focuses on plant-based ingredients and sustainable packaging across its products.
